Game Night- BEWARE of Laughter!

Filed under: Hiring Home Services,Home Organizing,How To,Stress Free Living — Miss Moxie @ 9:03 am

So I was just visiting some of my girlfriends for our usual relaxing “Girls Night In.” These ladies can get pretty creative when it comes to planning a night of fun and relaxation! We have kept this tradition lasting through our hectic, busy lives as we all deserve to relax with our friends for a night!

This week for “Girls Night In,” Ali brought out a game that I had never played before. Apples to Apples is the name of the game! This funny word game had us laughing all night long! After an hour of playing Apples to Apples, of course I decided I need to have this game for my house!

I finally picked up the box to read more about the game, and come to find out it is approved for children ages 12 and up. Even your kids can play this game with you! Have a family that you need bonding time with? Board or card games are a great way to accomplish that!

Having trouble with too many games/toys cluttering your home? Moxie Girl offers home organizing packages to all clients. And we organize game/toy rooms!

Storing Bulk Rice

Filed under: How To — OMG - The Original Moxie Girl @ 11:34 pm

Over the last few months, I’ve been trimming as much as I can out of our grocery budget. My husband tells me that Ben Franklin would be proud of my new found frugality. I don’t know much about Ben Franklin, but I think that’s a compliment…

Anyway, one of the items I found I could save mega-mulah on was rice. We cook a lot of Asian meals, so we go through a lot of rice. Rather than having to buy a 2lb bag of Basmati at the grocery store for $4, I found you can get a 20lb bag at a local Asian market for about $12. I was so excited about the deal, that I didn’t even consider how I was going to store a giant bag of rice in my pantry. For days, I searched and searched local stores for a plastic bin that was big enough to hold the rice, small enough to fit on the floor of my pantry, and would seal to keep bugs out, but I had no luck.

Then, as I was randomly strolling through my world wide neighborhood, I found the perfect solution! Sterilite has now come out with a 20qt box WITH a gasket seal. I just got two of them (one for long grain, one for Basmati) in the mail today, and had to show them off. They aren’t labelled yet, but don’t worry, they will be soon.

If you are have been looking for some good storage options like this, I recommend using USPHome. They have a lot of options, were very easy tp purchase from, and my order got here in super speed.

If you have any other ideas on storing bulk items, I would love to hear about them!

Lose the Bunnies! – Dust Bunnies that Is!

Filed under: Cleaning,How To — Miss Moxie @ 9:15 am

Is your house dusty? With all the wind and dust storms (we are located in Arizona) that we have had this summer it has been challenging keeping up with all the dust and the dust bunnies that they create. These storms make pollen, dust, and other allergens and they spread quickly with the wind storms.

What are dust bunnies anyway and when do they rear their ugly heads most often? Dust bunnies are essentially just collections of dust particles, hair (pet or human), and other fibers in your home. The more dusty and hairy your home is the more dust bunnies you will see. Also, your home’s flooring type plays a part in it as well as hard floors are more susceptible to dust bunnies. Softer flooring like carpet allows the dust to settle in and not be as easily stirred up. So, while you may not see the dust bunnies as much with carpet it doesn’t mean your home is cleaner. It probably just means you need to vacuum the carpet. :-)

Easy Ways to Kill Dust Bunnies:

remove dust bunnies

A tip that we suggest to keep up with the dust bunnies and to eliminate the dust in your home is of course dusting. DUH! Routine dusting decreases the chances of allergies acting up while indoors and doesn’t look as embarrassing when company comes over. Also just staying on top of the dust that settles on your stuff will keep the dust bunnies in the corners and on the floors less likely to appear.

I love the Swiffer Duster! It works so well; and the model that extends is so handy for dusting ceiling fans, skinny spaces, and unreachable spots, especially if you are a shorty.

remove dust bunnies with micro fiber cloths

First, go through your rooms at eye level and check out all the main dust collectors in your home and knock those down with a Swiffer or wiping with a slightly damp micro-fiber cloth. You can use water or a dusting polish if you choose. You don’t need much.

More than likely the dust bunnies are still around on the floor after your initial dusting. Watch out as they hop away quickly when you start trying to corral them. Catch the dust bunnies up with a vacuum cleaner or floor duster depending on your liking and floor type.

If you don’t have time to get all your dusting needs completed give us a call. ? Moxie Girl provides maid service, house cleaning, and cleaning services to Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, and Laveen in Arizona.

Allergy Attack? Attack them Back!

Well the temperature changes thee past few weeks have been hard on my body! It seems I have come down with a bad cold. Has anyone in your family come down with a cold? Or are allergies acting up in your family? Congestion, cough, sore throat, headaches… Lucky me I know my best tool in this situation! And so do many of our clients! A HUMIDIFIER!

I must say I don’t know anyone who likes to be sick. So what should we do to heal quickly at the first sign of a cold or allergy attack? Our Moxie Team has been noticing many of our in-home services clients have been bringing out their humidifiers to protect them and their families from getting colds, irritation allergies, and asthma attacks. To protect your kids, family, and selves from getting sicker, join our clients in putting a humidifier in your bedroom while sleeping. The humidifier will decrease the amount of dry air in your room. Having dry air in your home worsens symptoms of colds, allergies, and asthma.

Here are some fun kids designs from Target that we have seen in our client’s homes!
